Month Seventeen
Taiden Buddha,
You are such a big boy! We re-did your room last month and converted your crib into a toddler bed. You love the bed and your room. You still look around and point to new things in your room. Each morning I wake up to hear pitter patter pitter patter and see you opening my door. At first you would bring EVERY blanket you could find and come climb in bed with mommy and daddy for a few minutes before we would go down to eat breakfast… Now you simply push open the door and point to the stairs.. So much for snuggly time! Occasionally you will close the door behind you and come “lay” with us… By lay I mean kick us in the head and sit on our faces! When you do you will only put up with it for so long before you’re at the door demanding to be let out. Last month you insisted on walking up and down the stairs (with help), but now you insist on doing it yourself!
You are still my skinny butt at 21.8 pounds maybe 22 soaking wet directly after you’ve eaten. You have 8 teeth on the top and 7 on the bottom. The only one you have left to get is your left pointy one ( I can’t think of the name right now). Your hair is past your shoulders when straight and I am sick of hearing about how I need to cut it. I like it, you like to play with it and it’s cute! Pretty soon I want to braid it, but it’ll be my first attempt and although I don’t care what people think I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings when I get mad at their comments… I’m sure you’ll be grateful that I won’t be combing it everyday!
Rage this year has been fun so far. You don’t like the water nearly as much as you did last year and you are content to play in the VERY shallow part of the Wave Pool. You just find leaves and sticks and such to throw into the water. When Eliza and Walker are with us you will sometimes chase them into deeper water, but you still won’t go past your knees! When we take you into deeper water you cling to our necks and bury your head (I have scars to prove it). I will be taking you to swim lessons next month to get you used to the water.
At the park you’ve learned to go around instead of trying to climb back up the slides (darn older kids!) The slide WAS your all time favorite at the park for awhile, but now you’ve moved onto the swings! You run straight for them and hang onto it until I put you on one. If I let you slow down or stop you will attempt to swing yourself and rock back and forth.
You still clean up pretty good when prompted, but you like to destroy things even more! You dump out every bin in the playroom and throw all of the balls out of the ball pit before deciding to play with your cars (every time). You love to do your shapes puzzle, but you pretty much ignore your animal ones. When cleaning up you place things in the wrong bin purposely then look at me to see my reaction before placing the toys in the right place. It is pretty funny when you don’t do it with every single toy.
You like to help get your self dressed and if I put your shirt on your head you can pull it down and put your arms through the holes. You also like to be standing up when I put your pants on. We kind of started potty training 2 weeks ago. You’ve went pee on the potty several times, but we’re taking a break when your cousins come in a few days and we will start again after they leave.
You aren’t the serious baby you were this time last year. You love to laugh and you do all kinds of crazy stuff. You will smack your bum if asked to, and you like to honk peoples noses. You LOVE to tickle people, almost as much as you love to be tickled. You like to jump/fall of the couch and get back up and do it again.
Here is a list of what is on the sidebar of my blog this month.

Sunday?
So I know I said we were almost done a few weeks ago, but we really almost are! Devan has to put up some trim mold, and I have to bust out the cricket ONE more time to finish a frame, and put the saying on the wall and then I will post pictures. I want to get a little stool (to use as a table) or a little wooden crate for library books in his 'reading corner', but I don't know when I'll get around to finding and painting one so I'll post pictures with out it! Hopefully we can REALLY get finished on Sunday.

Taiden's Happy Feet
Oh yeah I remember why now.. So I could post this video from earlier today!
It was pretty funny.. Taiden's never seen the movie Happy Feet, but a commercial for it came on right before I recorded this and now when ever you say happy feet he does that.
The jibber jabber jabber yeah is because that's how Taiden talks.. He'll jibber for a bit then say yeah at the end of it. It's pretty funny, but he wouldn't do it for this video. I would like to get one of that though, cause it's pretty cute and something I want to remember!

Names?
I'm too lazy to write on my OTHER blog, so I'll just post my RANDOM thoughts here for now.
Anywho..
Not trying to be the BIGGEST hater in the world.. BUT. what's up with names these days?
Yeah Taiden has a different name.. And while I thought the name just kinda popped in my head as a compromise.. ( liked Kaden but one of my old co-workers named her son Kaden, and Devan liked Jayden and I felt it was to common) when I was looking at one of the baby announcement sites a few weeks ago I realized I saw the name on there!
Now it seems people are just going through the alphabet and changing letters...
Hmm I like Jason why don't we try something else.. Bason, Cason, Dason, Fason, Gason, Hason, Kason, Lason.. oh I like Lason.. that's his name! What's with that?
My friend (the one with the son named Kaden) named her daughter Taylee.. I've never heard a name like it at all. Then I saw Zaylee on some site... Really ZAYLEE? Taylee is cute and sounds pretty unique.. Zaylee sounds like they know someone named Taylee and didn't want to copy the name haha. I've seen a few more lately and they are just 'different' names. hmm.. I like the name Brinley and have heard it around lately.. then I saw Lynlee (on the same site I saw Zaylee actually) Lynlee.. to many L's if you ask me. Maybe it's the mom and dads middle names put together or something like that, but I just think it's weird. These are examples of names that really aren't that bad, but I've heard some really bad ones... I just can't think of them right now haha. (gimme a break.. it's 12:30 am, and I sat in traffic for 2.5 hours today and I have no clue why I'm up right now.)
Oh well this is just my opinion... Which doesn't really matter to anyone, but me... I know one Grandma who baulked at the name Taiden... and another who hates my first choice for a girl name.. (which I will not tell until I actually have a girl, cause it's alot harder to talk about a baby's name when they're here AND you know them!)

Almost finished!
So we are ALMOST done with Taiden's room. He is sleeping in it and everything now, but I don't want to post pictures until I get it ALL done. I still need to finish painting the picture frames and I need to actually take new pictures to put in them! Also I want to make the saying I want to put in his 'reading corner'. I just got the chair yesterday, but I didn't think it would come so soon so I didn't bother making it yet! The saying is from a Dr. Suess book, "The more you read, the more you'll know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go!"
I still need to figure out what I am doing for rugs, but I'll probably post the pictures before I get those.. Hopefully sometime next week I'll have taken some pictures that I'll be willing to use!
