Khari's Potty Week!!

This post is LONG and mostly so I can document Khari's potty training progress and have something to refer to in the future.

This past weekend we started potty training (learning whatever...) Khari. I am going to Kentucky to visit my dad at the beginning of June and well I just didn't want to lug cloth diapers and all they entail there and back. She has been showing interest for a while and had pooped on the potty a few times and had begun asking us to use the potty. A few weeks ago I let her be nakie for a day and she went about 4 times, but I'll admit my head just wasn't in it that time. I honestly have birthday parties almost every weekend. This was the only weekend I didn't have ANYTHING for the past month and for the next 2 months. I'm just a social butterfly yo. Anywho I decided to give it a whirl and not step foot out of the house this weekend (didn't work, but I'll get to that later), buckle down and get her done. Nat had let me borrow her potty training in one day book back when I was having trouble getting TK to potty train so I decided to use a few techniques I remembered. Unfortunately I could only find the potty I had bought and not the potty doll, I ended up just using one of Khari's Tiana and one of her fav dolls and a straw.

3.17.12 Saturday morning rolled around and after I got Dev and Taiden ready for the parade I got a tray of salty foods ready and put some juice in a water bottle for Khari. Saturday Khari woke up dry (which she's been doing for a while) and I said "Hey Khari you're going to wear 'big girls' now okay?", I let her pick which ones she wanted to wear and she sat on the potty for about a minute and decided she was done. Cue voice in my head thinking oh hell what have you gotten yourself into, she won't even sit on the potty long enough for it to come naturally! We did a little stint where her dolly went potty and then one where she had an incident and then dolly had to practice going from one room/activity and then hurrying to the potty. We then went down to the kitchen for breakfast and then she helped me do the dishes. I turned my back and heard  'uh oh, potty momma'. Yep peed all over my kitchen chair, but hey there are going to be some accidents and I was prepared. We cleaned it up, cleaned her up, practiced running to the potty (she HATED this part) and talked about where poopoo and peepee goes then went about our day. That first morning she had 1 more starts of a pee accident, she stopped and said potty momma and I rushed her to the potty, and one poop accident. GROSS. It is much easier to clean poop off of a cloth diaper then training underwear. MUCH. In my head I almost went back to diapers right then and there haha. She was dry foir her nap and pretty much the rest of the day and had 5 stickers on her chart before she had another incident. I have no clue where! I was down stairs and she went up then came back to sit on the potty and said 'big girls wet'. I never did find where she peed at! She got her last sticker of the day right before bedtime to total 6 FULL successes (she went everytime with out me having to tell her to), 2 partials, 1 pee miss and 1 poop miss.

3.18.12 Sunday she woke up dry again and went right to the potty and peed. It was a great start to the day. She had one partial poop accident. She went around the side of the couch then went and sat on the potty. She started crying and said 'help momma' I thought she was just having trouble going, but it turns out she had started to go in her pants and didn't know what to do. I felt SO bad for her. I told her it's good that she finished in the potty and we practiced and talked about pooping in the potty. Other than that she was dry ALL day! We ended up going to Home Depot and to Firehouse Subs (to try it out and blech) and she REFUSED to wear a pull-up (left over from TK's days of PTing). I showed her where the potty was in both places. She seemed kind of weary of the toilets without the potty seat though. That night when I went shopping for the week I got her a travel potty seat as the one we had for TK got left up at the camp site. This one is pretty and purple with Tinkerbell on it and she loves it. :-)

3.19.12 Monday Khari once again woke up dry and went in the potty right away. She also went again after breakfast without being prompted in anyway. When she goes her face just lights up because she is so proud of herself. We are all very proud of her too!

3.20.12 Tuesday Dry! She stayed dry all day!

3.21.12 Wednesday She woke up dry again. She had one poopy accident today, but other than that did great!

3.22.12 Thursday Khari is still doing awesome! My mom watches her Thursday and Friday. I got a very surprised call from her. "Did you know your daughter just went in the bathroom, got on the potty by herself and went poop!" LOL. Yeah mom, I told you we were PTing! I do understand her excitement though! I am excited myself. I hung out with my Boonie this night and she said that Devan acts like he's the one who's being PT'ed he acts so excited about it! Haha

3.23.12 Friday. Once again a great day. I think she's pretty much got this down!

3.24.12 Saturday It's been a full week since we started PTing and Khari is doing great. We had a FEW parties today and Khari had an accident at one of them, but overall she is doing wonderful!

4.2.12 Monday OOPS I forgot to hit publish on this post and just realized it! Khari has been doing great! I am happy to say I am done with diapers for a LONG while! It's weird not washing diapers every 3 days though! I don't know if it's the fact that she is a girl, the fact that I used cloth this time, or if she was really just READY, but I am glad to be done with diapers! Only time will tell, we'll have to wait a few years and see what happens with our next kid.

Taiden's 4th Birthday Party

Taiden's party was a little over 2 weeks ago.. AMAZING that I'm posting pictures already right?!? Anyways I'll break it down I guess.. According to Devan I go overboard with parties... I think I toned it down this year for sure. Last year the theme was candyland and we had a LOT of candy.. .I didn't get many pictures though... :-( Andrew had just gotten a new camera though so I might have to hit him up for some of the ones he took if he still has them. Back to this year though. This year's theme was Spiderman. I have NO clue why Taiden wanted Spiderman so badly as he's never even seen a Spiderman movie or show, but for the past 8 months he was insistent on a Spiderman birthday party. For his party I made and lamenated food labels. We had Peter Parker's Pizza, BBQ Symbiotes, and Super Hot Symbiotes (BBQ and Hot Wings. You'd have to be a super dork like me to know what symbiotes are), Spidey Bites (New Parmesaen bites from Dominos), Aunt May's Fruit Tray, Mary Jane's Triple Threat (Pasta salad, with chicken pasta and lettuce. Except I forgot to put the lettuce in! Again super dork.. Mary Jane was an aspiring broadway actress), Madame Webb's Mystery Salad (Salad from Wendy! Throwback to Spiderman cartoon I used to watch), Doc Oc Tentacles (Chocolate Covered Pretzel Sticks), Green Goblin Juice, and Spiderman's Power Punch. They looked like this.
Lamination!
We had a few games and I actually had a schedule for the flow of the party this year. It was super nice and worked out perfectly. We ate first, then we played Pin the Spidey on the Web. (Pictures on my other camera I guess.. I'll have to upload those). Then we did Musical Chairs. Kids first then we played with the adults. I think Aiden won that one (he was to big to play with all the 3-4 year olds lol. Sadly no pictures or video from this. Then Spiderman VS Venom Ball toss. I just let the kids 'battle' each other 2 at a time to see who could get all their balls in first. After their turn I gave them their goodie bags for the Pinata which was next.

Then we had cake and Ice Cream and called it a day.

This cake was huge. Thanks Devan!!
I think over all the party was a success. I'm still learning. I can't wait for the next one... June 16th everyone! I'm already planning in my head and I'll probably start my spreadsheet next week! Yes I'm THAT crazy anal much of a planner.

These pictures are from Maisy's party the week before.

Kiddo Updates

Mr Kade
IS FOUR! His birthday was this past Saturday. While he was sleeping I blew up about 20 balloons and put them in his room as well as decorated his ceiling with streamers. He was so excited when he woke up. Him and Khari spent a good 15-20 mins just kicking them around before Khari decided she wanted to ea beckfaaaas (eat breakfast). I was so glad I did it. (I almost forgot and ended up waking up early in the morning to do it.) We are not doing his party until this Saturday so he told everyone that they couldn't tell him happy birthday until the day of his party. A mean face and a growl was given to everyone I forgot to inform of this before they had a chance to say it to him.
This kid is can be wild one. He started out so calm. Never climbed on anything, didn't really get in to much. Then came the YELLING. He had one tone of voice for a long time and while nerve wracking it was so him and I loved it. He is kind of crazy in the jumping off the couch typical 4 year old stuff way, but he is still wary of things like rides at arcade type places. I personally would rather be strapped in a seat than rolling backwards over the side of a couch, but that's just me.
He can be so sweet at times. He will come lay next to me and just rub my face and say "I looove you momma". LOVE IT. I was pretty sick last week and he stayed in the room with me insisting that he had to be there to take care of me and making sure I knew that when people are sick they can't go to work. (Poor Devan is sick this week and TK was pretty upset with him for going to work today!)
He also has what Dev calls the Turner Temper. He will be perfectly fine one minute and if things aren't going his way he blows up in a flash. (Wendy and Heather agreed it's a Turner thing when I told them about this, but living with my little brother I know he gets QUITE a bit of it from my side as well.) A quick trip to his room usually cures this. (For about 5 minutes ay yi yi)
He is so smart. Everyday he wants to practice his letters in sign language. This is A and THIS is S. Right? Is how it always starts out. I can not get anything past this boy. If I tell him we will do something once (be it 5:30 am and the thing to do is at 9pm) the kid remembers. No wonder he wanted to be an elephant for halloween. An elephant NEVER forgets!

Ms Khari Rhyssy poopoo girl (Sad Nickname right!?)
Is 19 months and is a sassy little firecracker! She is the opposite of her brother and has always loved to climb on things. She is into everything (mostly the dog food and water ugh) and jumps off anything and everything. She is a DAREDEVIL. If a someone else is doing it.. Well then she can do it too! The other day I posted on FB a video of her and Taiden climbing up the fridge! (Later I will post it on here if I remember) I turned around (from cleaning up her mess of dog water) and she was halfway up the fridge! I don't think she got as high as she did the first time because we were all laughing so hard, but wow that girl is a monkey!
She is also a little sweetie like her brother. Riding in the car she calls out everyone's name and tells them I wah woo. It is so cute and makes my day. She pats my face too. She will keep calling your name until you answer and then keep saying I wah woo until you say it back. She is always bringing you your phone if she finds it anywhere. Mama. Phone? She always wants to help when I'm cleaning except when I sweep or vaccumm she HATES those things. She is constanly wiping down the house. It would be a help except you can tell how little I dust due to the spots she can't reach... *yikes*
This girl is a DIVA. She has to pick out her own shoes and if you pick something she doesn't want to wear. You get a strong NO and she will pick something else. She loves "neckace"s and her babies. She has 3 'sets' of babies. She has 2 Princess Tiana dolls, 3 little ugly dolls from target (I bought 2 of them so I can call them ugly) and 7 ADORABLE Cabbage Patch Cuties (Link). She has all but the turtle (I messed that one up by letting a friend buy the last one thinking I'd be able to find it again) the monkey and the frog (I think they are both not as cute as the others). She goes through phases of which set she will play with.
She is the sweetest little sassy, diva firecracker ever and we just love her!

Now for some pics of them sleeping. Cause I'm just weird like that.

He sleeps like this all the time. Even sitting up in his carseat haha.

Look at those eyelashes, No look at those lips. Oh just LOOK!!

Hair!!!

Having a girl is so much fun when it comes to doing her hair. Khari has no where near as much hair as Taiden did at this age, but it is still really fun to play around.. Here are a few pics of the things I can do on her hair until it gets longer and until I learn how to cornrow...

Knotty Hair Headband

Today

Early last year. I think I might have to try this again to see how much longer it has gotten.

This is from the 24th of July.

This is my favorite. I've done it many times. This was the very first time I did it.
